Healed or Not Healed

Updated: May 25, 2024

The Chosen

Season 3 Episode 2, Two by Two, where Jesus officially sends the apostles on an exciting but dangerous mission, causing Little James to ask why he has not been healed.

In disbelief, Little James questions why He would send him to heal the sick and lame when Jesus hasn't even healed him of his own condition.

Jesus: "Do you want to be healed?" Little James: "Yes, of course, if that's possible..." Jesus: "I think you've seen enough to know it's possible." Little James: "Then why haven't you?" Jesus: "Because I trust you." Little James: "What?" Jesus: "Little James... precious Little James. I need you to listen to Me very carefully. Because what I'm going to say defines your whole life to this point and will define the rest of your life. Do you understand?" Little James nods Jesus: "In the Father's will, I could heal you... right now. And you'd have a good story to tell... yes?" Little James: "Yes, that you do miracles." Jesus: "And that's a good story. But there are already dozens who can tell that story, and there will be hundreds more, even thousands. But think of the story that you have especially within this journey to come if I don't heal you. To know how to proclaim that you still praise God in spite of this; to know how to focus on all that matters so much more than the body; to show people that you can be patient with your suffering here on earth because you know you'll spend eternity with no suffering. Not everyone can understand that. How many people do you think the Father and I trust this with, hmm? Not many." Little James: "But the others, (crying) they're so much more..." Jesus: "So much more what?" Little James: I don't know, stronger? Better at this?" Jesus: "James, I love you, but I don't want to hear that ever again." Little James: "I know how easy it is to say the song of David, that "I'm fearfully and wonderfully made," but it doesn't make this any easier. (Crying) And in this group, it doesn't make me feel like any less of a burden." Jesus: "A burden? (Sighs) First of all, it is far easier to deal with your slow walking than it is to deal with Simon's temper: trust me. (Laughing) Are you fast? Do you look impressive when you walk? Maybe not. But these are things the Father doesn't care about. You are going to do more for Me than most people ever dream. So many people need healing in order to believe in Me, or they need healing because their hearts are so sick. That doesn't apply to you. And many are healed or not healed because the Father in heaven has a plan for them which may be a mystery. And we remember what Job said, "The Lord gives, and the Lord takes away--" (TOGETHER) "-- Blessed be the name of the Lord." Jesus: "when you pass from this earth and you meet your Father in heaven where Isaiah promises that you will leap like a deer your reward will be great." (James crying) "so hold on a little longer, and when you discover yourself finding true strength because of your weakness and when you do great things in My name in spite of this... the impact will last for generations." (James crying) "Do you understand?" Little James: "Yes. Thank you, master." Jesus: "A man like you healing others... Oh, what a sight! I can't wait to hear your stories when you return. Shalom, My son." "Little James: "Shalom." Jesus: "and James... remember... you will be healed. It's only a matter of time. Hmm?" Little James: "yeah." Jesus: "Shalom, My son." Little James: "Shalom."

When I first created this post back on May 10th, 2022, the Chosen Season 3 wasn't released yet. Now that it has been released, I have an even greater perspective and positive outlook on the topic of being healed or not being healed by God.

I was thinking… why share about my ADHD? No one needs to know about that! But in God’s Word, He mentions many people who struggled with various mental, physical, and spiritual problems. Let me add; that there are struggles and suffering we cause ourselves and others because we willfully sin, but that is not what I am addressing here. I am talking of something one was born with or developed in their lifetime because of adverse circumstances. I am referring to a mental or physical illness that can severely affect an individual’s daily and/or entire life.

John 9:1-3 says, “Now as Jesus passed by, He saw a man who was blind from birth. And His disciples asked Him, saying, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” Jesus answered, “Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but that the works of God should be revealed in him.”

My God is a God of miracles. Therefore, He can heal anyone like this blind man was healed in the verses following, but there are also those who God chooses not to heal.

My severe ADHD takes over every aspect of my life, primarily in a negative way. Like Paul, I prayed and prayed for healing. I’d sit in a service, and a pastor would ask if anyone needed healing to come forward. After repeatedly going up for healing, with no results in the past, I gave up. Torn because so many people around me have these testimonies of being miraculously healed and having extraordinary revelations.

But God knows me better than I do. If healed, would I even be the person I am today or in the future?

• There is a man who has a terminal illness and has to live extremely close to his doctor. That man depends heavily on that doctor to check and take care of him daily in hopes that he might survive another day. One day without that doctor could mean the end of that man’s life.

Likewise, my infirmity keeps me close to the Lord, and not many people can say that. I cannot stand to be even one day without Him because He is my literal lifeline. So, like Paul, I’d rather boast in my infirmities because, in my weakness, He is strong.
