From Fear to Peace

(This poem I’ve written is a lament, that in the end drew me closer to Jesus.)
As the figure walked away,
No reply to my endless cries.
All sense of reality lost,
I collapsed to the ground, weak.
All that was felt was the pain,
The gnawing pain that seemed to increase.
Shaking, I couldn’t breathe,
Fear creeping into every part of me.
"Don’t leave, please," I whispered,
But my voice was lost in the abyss.
Scared and helpless, darkness surrounded,
Weakness overwhelming like a chilling mist.
What’s happening in this eerie night?
Confused and terrified, I can't see.
Nor breathe, am I truly alone?
Fear grips me, shaking, refusing to set me free.
Eyes watching in the shadows,
Lord, what is this dread unfolding?
Silence, darkness, nothingness,
I find myself paralyzed, unable to move or speak.
Patter of steps, voices ensue
Flee, flee, my heart gasps
All a blur, driving towards the unknown
Flashing lights 1 hr, 2 hrs, the pain continues
Then all stops, as I face a road
Dark, no way forward
Weeping, crying out to you Lord
But then there You were,
No matter where I run or hide
Ready to embrace at any moment
Arms spread wide… Waiting
The pain still gnawing,
Yet dampened with His presence
Now fully grasped in His embrace
Peace. Thank you Jesus
