(This poem I’ve written is a real event or circumstance written as a lament, or prayer that in the end drew me closer to Jesus.)
I made a mistake.
with the letter I made
sent full of words drenched
in bitterness and heartache
couldn't look into their eyes.
I'm so filled with shame
and yet Monday they said
"All is forgiven"
I don't accept this! Why?
they have to be angry!
where's the name calling
the hate, the blame
I DON'T UNDERSTAND THIS
why is it that all my life
that people were resentful
yet they can say "All is forgiven"
please tell me my wrongs
the hurt that I've done
the sorrows the pains
I need to right this burden
Father, how is it possible
that someone like they
could possibly look past
and say "All is forgiven"
It is not they, but Jesus
that took up these sins
Washed clean and made pure
As I appear before my King
But quite frankly I'm upset
I guess I must reckon
with my heart gone mad
when they said "All is forgiven"
Please forgive me, my Jesus
I am without any excuse
Obedient unto the cross
You died for all of us
No more pain, no sorrow
No more death or sting
A life spent with you
In a holy eternity
For this I thank You
As I turn from the past
And look to the future
Where only Your love lasts
Where promises will never fail
And faithfulness abounds
Where I know I'll be treasured
And peace will prevail
"All is forgiven"
